Summary: Investing in the fruit of self control.

Step 1

Read Galatians 5:22-23:

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."

Are you ready to make an investment in the Fruit of Self Control?

Step 2

Read Isaiah 49:5-6:

'And now the Lord says—
he who formed me in the womb to be his servant
to bring Jacob back to him
and gather Israel to himself,
for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord
and my God has been my strength—
he says:
“It is too small a thing for you to be my servant
to restore the tribes of Jacob
and bring back those of Israel I have kept.
I will also make you a light for the Gentiles,
that my salvation may reach to the ends of the earth.”'

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 3

To the best of your ability, describe what you believe to be your purpose in life?

Step 4

Go to 'DOCUMENTS' and read Oswald Chambers comments.

Select 'Successful' when you are finished.

Step 5

How much do you agree with the statement:

'The entire human race was created to glorify God and to enjoy Him forever.'

Step 6

Oswald writes:

'Sin has diverted the human race onto another course, but it has not altered God’s purpose to the slightest degree. And when we are born again we are brought into the realization of God’s great purpose for the human race, namely, that He created us for Himself.'

How much are you experiencing God's 'great purpose' working in your life?

Step 7

Oswald continues:

'We must continually keep our soul open to the fact of God’s creative purpose, and never confuse or cloud it with our own intentions. If we do, God will have to force our intentions aside no matter how much it may hurt.'

How is God working in your current circumstances to force your own 'intentions aside no matter how much it hurts'?

Step 8

Oswald continues:

'A missionary is created for the purpose of being God’s servant, one in whom God is glorified.'

How important to you is it to be God's servant, to bring glory to God?

Step 9

'Once we realize that it is through the salvation of Jesus Christ that we are made perfectly fit for the purpose of God, we will understand why Jesus Christ is so strict and relentless in His demands. He demands absolute righteousness from His servants, because He has put into them the very nature of God.'

How often do you find yourself feeling upset, resentful or discouraged by the 'strict and relentless' demands Jesus places upon you?

Step 10

Is there anything you would like to repent of?

If so, you can do privately or in the space provided.

Step 11

Oswald continues with:

'Beware lest you forget God’s purpose for your life.'

Now, how would you describe God's purpose in your life?

Step 12

What, if any, was the difference between your answer in Step 3 and Step 11?

Step 13

Is there anything you would like to thank or praise God for?

If so, you can do so privately or in the space provided.

Step 14

How much has this Trail increased the fruit of self control in your current circumstances?
