Summary:

Step 1

Hi.

Shhh....

Be Still.

Get Quiet.

Clear your mind.

Learn to do this whenever you feel amped up. It'll help you take the drama down a few notches.

Go ahead. Try it out now.

Relax. Get Quiet.

Pay attention to your surroundings. Look out a window.

Give this exercise 1 minute and then describe how it made you feel and the kind of thoughts that went through your mind.

Step 2

Watch the Maya Angelo clip in the video icon above.

Tell us how it landed with you.

Step 3

"Love liberates. It doesn't hold. It liberates." That love begins with the way we treat ourselves and then proceeds to liberate (respect the choices of) others.

Has there been a situation this week where you've been able to put into practice what you've learned so far?

If so, did you feel a little freer? Describe the scenario, including the tips you used and how they helped - or not.

If no situation occurred, is there something that you think is coming up where you can put into play what you've learned so far?

Step 4

Has there been a situation that started looking dire, but you realized it wasn't as bad as you thought it would be?

Or maybe it wasn't bad at all? At work maybe?

Step 5

Speaking of work, have you started getting to know your boss yet?

If so, what topics of conversations are you bringing up, and how are they going?

What did you discover that surprised you?

If you're not working, then describe a situation where you have a supervisor, instructor or someone else you may have to report to. How are those conversations going? 'Fine' is not a complete answer.

What are you doing to get to know this person and let them get to know you?

Step 6

What may have changed in the way you approach situations that have made you feel tense or even angry before now?

How do you feel about that change?

Step 7

Are other people reacting differently to you? If so, in what way?

Step 8

If this relates to you yet, how do you feel about the difference in how you're being treated?

Step 9

See you tomorrow.

Until then, recall the phrase, "love liberates."
